Friday Favourites 14th - 20th November 2015

best of the week 20.11

best of the week 20.11

I feel like these best of the weeks are such a regular segment I don't even think about writing them anymore. The whole structure is the same every week, I make a few notes on my favs of the week and the rest is pretty much done on autopilot....

So soz if this makes no sense, hopefully even on autopilot I can form sentence structures and write a coherent sentence.

Onto the roundup!

1. Christmas Songs.

Oh boy, Christmas is properly in full swing. The Christmas CD is in the car and many a singalong has been had. We have the traditional 'The Best Christmas Album In The World Ever' (buy it on Amazon here) and it is full of classics kicking off naturally with John and Yoko. I am looking forward to decorating my tree come December 13th and continuing to listen to some tunes.

2. Weekend Away.

Last weekend I got up at 6am and hopped on down the M25 to Essex to stay with one of my oldest friends (this beaut has been my gal since we were 3) and her wonderful family. We used to stay there every summer when we were younger but now we've graduated, we're in jobs, we live away and getting together is a mammoth task but we made it for one weekend only! It was such a cute (if a little rainy) weekend. We went for dinner at Rosey Lea's which was beaaaaaautiful converted barn where they cook the cakes and scones in front of you, we visited some family we have down there but ultimately  we sat around drinking tea, eating chocolate and catching up and it was SO good to just take some time out to chill. Also we might be going to Venice next year so that's exciting.

3. Human Resilience.

The attacks in Paris were obviously not one of my favourite things of the week but in light o the tragedy, what did make my heart feel all happy was the response of the human race. Did we crack under the pressure of what we had all just witnessed? No. We pulled together with the click of a Facebook profile change and we thought we'll be damned if they win. The whole world pulled together and supported the people of Paris and the wider community and said "we will NOT be beaten by this".

I wrote a little piece about it which you can find here.

4. Football Crazy, Football Mad.

I don't know what came over this week but I went a little bit crazy for football documentaries. I re-watched Rooney: The Man Behind The Goals, The Class of 92, Life of Ryan (Giggs fyi), Sir Alex Ferguson; Secrets of Success, The David Beckham UNICEF match and both Salford City episodes. I know, I finally became a fully fledged Man United fan which is lucky, seen as everyone else in my family is. I think this is what inspired me to create a series of one off prints (suitable for the sports mad peeps in your family for Christmas, natch) based on football stadiums which was suuuper fun to work on and looks really cute framed. Buy it on my Etsy shop here!!

Find most the shows on iPlayer.

5. iMac love in.

I finally took the plunge this week and bought an iMac. I saved up every spare penny from my student loan in university to buy one and then when I left I talked myself out of parting with that much cash. However, this week I was sent an offer I couldn't refuse and suddenly I wasn't parting with £1200.00, it was a lot lower and so I finally bought the computer of my dreams. And I cannot wait. Treat yourself to one (!!!!) here.

Check back in next week when hopefully my computer should be here and all set up! Maybe I'll even type next weeks post on it!!
