The Blogger Tag.
I feel like it's been a while since I did a blog tag and this one is SUCH a good one I'm made up the lovely Steph tagged me in it.
Quick intro to Steph - she did a guest post for me back in July and we've tagged each other in a few things since and we're firm social media pals AND we're working on something Christmassy which is all shades of exciting.
So huge props and thank you to gorgeous Steph - and thus begins the blogger tag!
1. How Tall Are You?
5ft7. I know this because when I was 15 and I was in the hospital cos lol nut allergy reaction but they measured me and I apparently haven't grown an inch since because every time I go back there, still the same old 5 7.
2. Do You Have A Hidden Talent? If So, What?
I honestly couldn't think of a single thing for this. My biggest talent is obviously illustration but that's not really classed as hidden when it's your career is it? I can make the world's worst cup of tea? Is that a talent? It's the only way I'll drink it but it's UNDRINKABLE to everyone else...
3. What's Your Biggest Blog-Related Pet Peeve?
I could probably write an entire essay on this topic but lol, another post for another day. Some of my absolute biggest hates are automated DM's on Twitter, follow for follows and the Instagram algorithm. The bane of bloggers lives.
4. What's Your Biggest Non-Blog Related Pet Peeve?
Totally agree with Steph on this one - having someone not say thanks when you hold the door is INFURIATING. I also can't stand drivers that do 35 through the 60 and then speed through the 30 zone. I have an ongoing battle with my boyfriend over how he can manage to put the empty toilet roll on top of the toilet but can't manage to put it in the bathroom bin which is RIGHT NEXT TO THE TOILET. I can't even.
5. What's Your Favourite Song?
I never have one favourite all time song, I can't pick but I always have a 'current fav'. At this moment in time it's probably the new Bruno Mars one but definitely the two most played songs on my iPod this year have been Sorry by Biebs and The Hills - The Weeknd. Obviously at this time of year my car is full of Christmas tunes so Elton John and The Pogues and Mariah are my baes right now.
6. What's Your Favourite Social Media Website?
100% Instagram. The algorithm kills me and kills my engagement and following but I bloody love it none the less. Curating my grid, editing my photos, lusting over everybody else's feeds....idc it's the best.
7. What's Your Favourite Way To Spend Your Free Time When You're Alone?
Blog. Lol. No if we're talking literal free time when I'm not even blogging then catching up on TV and mindlessly scrolling SM or reading blogs with some snacks. Preferably in bed or at least on the sofa in a blanket and pjs. I watch a lot of TV that my family and boyfriend don't watch from things like GBBO and Apprentice to reality TV and documentaries, I download them all on my iPad and binge.
8. What's Your Favourite Junk Food?
So as I type this me and Sarah are having a chat on the blogging baes Whatsapp group about how at my (non existent) wedding I should have all 3 courses as cheese related and how the flower girl should throw cheese and how instead of confetti they throw cheese. I feel like you get the effect.
9. Do You Have A Pet Or Pets? If So, What Kind And What Are Their Names?
Mildred! Mildred is my cat who appeared as a stray 5 years ago. As I'm writing this I've had to move seats because I got up to make a cuppa and when I came back Mildred had stolen the warm spot on my seat. Now I'm on a different colder chair and she's sleeping. You can learn a bit more about her here.
10. What's Your Favourite Fiction And Non Fiction Books?
I mean obviously Hazza P has to be up there right? The Time Traveller's Wife is a firm favourite as is If I Stay and The Pact. But one of my favourite if not my ABSOLUTE favourite book is My Foreign Cities which is a memoir about a young couple, one of whom was dying during their relationship. It's the most heartbreaking life affirming books I have ever read and I 100% recommend.
11. What's Your Favourite Beauty Product Or Tool?
The ones I have been using and replacing religiously for the last few years are Avon colortrend mascara in brown/black and the Avon True Colour Eyeshadow Quad in Mocha Latte. Because of my colouring I find harsh black makeup looks appalling on me and I have to wear really brassy brown and gold tones and these are my absolute staples. Baes.
12. When Were You Last Embarrassed? What Happened?
I can't remember the last time I was absolutely mortified but the other day I called my Dad Daddy in the middle of Cardiff. I was with my niece and I got all brain fuddled over the fact that she calls my Dad Bampi, I call him Dad and to her Daddy is my brother. She dropped her dummy on the floor whilst she was in my arms and I meant to say either 'Dad can you grab the dummy' or to tell her to tell Bampi where it was and in the end I just called him Daddy and it was fucking weird.
13. If You Could Only Drink One Beverage (Besides Water) For The Rest Of Your Life, What Would It Be?
My god awful cups of tea 100%.
14. What's Your Favourite Movie?
I think I've mentioned this before but Walk The Line is my absolute favourite all time film. It's about the life of Johnny Cash and I don't know why I love it so much but I watched the beginning of it once and just didn't go to bed.... I adore it and could watch it 100000 times without any bother. Gatsby is a close second though. Oh and Hazza P again.
15. What Was Your Favourite Lesson In School And Why?
I mean Art and Photography will come as no real surprise to you I'm sure but after that it was definitely History. I did it for GCSE and hated it so much I swore I'd never do it again....so I took it for A Level. We did Nazi Germany and the Tudors and I adored every second and got a B so alls well that ends well.
16. If You Could Live Anywhere In The World, Where Would You Live?
Literally where I live now. It's considered so boring not to move from where you live but I did my big move, I spent 3 years 4 hours away from home and whilst Wrexham will always be home to me, this little area of South Wales is the only place I've ever wanted to be.
17. PC Or Mac?
Mac omg. I am such an Apple wanker and I have a Macbook Pro which I got in uni for my illustration career and then when I graduated I used my hard earned savings to buy a car and an iMac. I bought it second hand for 400 quid but I could never go back to PC now. In Matalan last week a woman asked me to type my email address into their computer and I couldn't find the @ symbol. First world problems.
18. Last Romantic Gesture From A Crush, Date, Boy/Girlfriend, Spouse? (Or Kind Gesture From A Friend)
Let me just start by staying Steph said her boyfriend learned to plait her hair. Goals. I am not a big one for romantic gestures, for me I'd much rather Joss do something around the house without me asking or something like the dishes or taking the bins out. I'm so romantic it kills me. He did buy me early birthday flowers last month though which is always nice.
19. Favourite Celebrity?
I mean obvs the Kardashians are right up there but at the moment my fav people are the Obama's. The Barack/Joe Biden memes floating about are killing me. Michelle 2020 yo.
20. What Blogger Do You Secretly Want To Be Best Friends With?
Obviously I couldn't say anyone here but my picnic gals. Like I think they'd hurt me or summin.
21. Who Is Your Biggest Inspiration?
This is such a tough question. My family obviously all inspire me in different ways for different reasons but for blogging I have quite a few like Hannah Gale, DizzyBrunette and Little Miss Katy because I think they're bloody killing it with the combination of their blogs and social media.
22. What Is Your Favourite Blog To Read?
I think it says a lot that I was reading Steph's tag not realising she'd tagged me let alone mentioned me as one of her favourites, like I think it says a lot that I was just catching up on her blog. <3 <3 <3
I have too many favourites to name honestly but if my Bloglovin feed is in the hundreds and I only have time to check on a few I'll always peep in on Hannah Gale, my picnic pals. Vix Meldrew, Rachel and Beth to see if they've published anything new.
23. What Is Your Favourite High Street Shop?
Primark. I don't need to say anymore I'll just direct you to this post.
24. Are You In Education Or Do You Work?
I graduated from Glyndwr University in Wrexham just over a year ago which feels like an absolute lifetime but I miss it so much. I work as a freelance self employed illustrator which means I work for myself from home and it's equal parts aces and SO BLOODY DIFFICULT.
I have a shop you should probs make a trip to....
25. One Thing You Are Proud Of.
Learning to drive. I wrote this post on why I didn't learn till I was 23 and how I passed in 3 weeks but basically I didn't need to drive before and I did an intensive course and *uhm* bossed the test first time. Everyone thought I was too nervy to pass, that learning so late was detrimental to me and that I'd be a bad first driver but a year on I think I proved everyone wrong and sometimes when I'm driving it like hits me, realisation like yeah I actually did that..... Smug face.
Thank you to Steph again for tagging me, I really really enjoyed this one, the questions were a fun mix of blogging and life and random and it's a really nice easy read and way to get to know a blogger a bit better. As with all tags I do, I spoil the fun and don't tag anyone because I don't want anyone to feel obligated but I strongly suggest you do this one if you're struggling with content ideas because it's really fun.
Tag me if you do it so I can nose!
