DIY Christmas Wreath.

DIY Christmas Wreath

Is there anything nicer than setting up a Christmas film on the tv, getting the fire going and doing some festive crafts? No I didn't think so either. There's nothing like making something for your home, decorating your tree with something you turned your hand to and stepping back to admire it year on year.

For 2017 I decided to try a DIY Christmas wreath for our front door. We have a tiny one in the shape of a star I bought 2 years ago which is going on the back door this year so I thought I'd create something of my own to welcome our guests to our little grotto.

It's super easy, you don't have to be a artist and you can make it as cheap or expensive as you want (my total spend was £13.50 but I have loads of bells, bows and buttons leftover for future projects!)

Equipment;

- Wreath insert or wicker wreath (available from most craft stores)

- Pom pom garland or leaf garland

- Buttons

- Bows

- Bells

- Pine cones

- String

- Scissors

- Double sided sticky tape

Instructions;

- Start by winding your pom pom garland or leaf garland around your wreath frame going in and out of the centre and tie in place securely. Chop off any loose ends of the string or wire.

-  Build up the layers of accessories eg. pinecones, bells and bows as much or as little as you like. My advice would be to evenly spread the accessories out or make it bottom heavy to add some weight to it.

- If you want a 'central' focus add it to the top (like the bow with the bell on mine) to make the focal point where the wreath hangs from.

- Use string to tie bigger buttons and bells on to the wreath (try coloured string that matches your buttons) and use double sided sticky tape to keep smaller buttons in place. Make sure you press down firmly to make sure they're stuck.

- Build up as much as you like or keep it plain and simple; there really are no rules and you don't have to have an artistic eye to make it work.

- Use a wreath hanger to attach it to your door and voila! Your very own Christmas wreath.
